The drive to Memphis was fairly uneventful considering we were pulling a 12 foot trailer. The only weird thing was that every time I got behind the wheel, it rained…not just rained…torrential, “I can’t see the road” rain. Buzz got dry pavement every time…..WTH??
The mercury kept rising so we had a couple days of 98 degrees with a heat index of 106! Welcome to the South!
Jackie and I don’t get to hang out very much…even less than with Lynnette because Jackie lives 950 miles away. So spending 2 days with her, her husband Paul, and my nephew Derek and his wife Mallori was such a gift.

We lazed in her beautiful pool during the day and just caught up with each other’s lives.

Jackie cooked us some great meals (flank steak on the grill, one of my favorites). We explored Beale Street and its carnivalesque atmosphere, munched some Memphis BBQ, took a Riverboat cruise down the Mississippi, and watched the sunset from a rooftop lounge overlooking the river. They were epic hosts!
One of the best parts of this last month of travel is we got to spend quality time with friends and family we usually don’t see very often. We will be forever grateful for the warm hospitality shown to us by all.
Once again, knowing we would see Jackie in January, made the good by a temporary one.
So sweet!! We loved having you!!!

The temperature report nearly gave me a stroke but when I saw the toes sticking out of the pool water I wondered if I could have Jackie as my sister too!

I recognize those toes in the pool! Memphis is one of my favorite river cities.
