Wow, had we know how beautiful Nova Scotia was we would have planned to stay longer. if you like the looks of stony beaches lined by mile high pines….well, NS is the place! Around every bend was another beautiful wild scene.
We would go back to Nova Scotia in a heartbeat…New Brunswick, not so much….kind of a lot of nothing.
More random Canadian observations:
- Lots and lots of houses for sale
- Tim Horton’s, the ubiquitous fast food restaurant, gives you a doughnut as a side for almost everything
- Canadians take their garbage really seriously
- I want to go back in the winter and go snowmobiling. There are trails everywhere, along the roads and deep into the woods, with their own set of road signs, etc. They even cross major highways.
- The Canadians have spent gazillions of dollars on fencing along the highways, presumably to keep the wildlife off the roads….but since there are no moose in Canada…what a waste of money! :.) (Or perhaps they are working and that is why we didn’t see any.)
- Things must get very boring in Canada in the winter….the road was practically black from skidmarks!!

Could the fences be there to keep tourists ON the roads? I also think snowmobiling sounds cold and too fast. Can I sit by the fire, drink hot chocolate, and wait for the snowmobilers to return?

One year, I was in Ontario, and the black flies were so thick that they were driving the moose out of the woods and onto the highways, where they were being hit. At the time, they had lost about 200. So, that may be one of the reasons. And, you don’t want to see a female moose with her calf in the embankment while your canoeing in a narrow river. Just sayin’. T

Beautiful pictures. Be careful what you wish for about the moose. The are quite big and easy to anger as I understand it.
