We have had several friends bring our attention to the news about some recent bombings in the southern part of Thailand which will be one of our first stops next month. We are very appreciative of their concern for our safety.

We have not made and will not make any changes to our plans as we see these as isolated incidents in a country that has had a history of some unrest for many years. Of course that does not mean we will not be careful! We would guess that there are probably parts of (Insert your town’s name here) that you would not go into at certain parts of the night. It is our firm belief that the Thai people as well as people the world over are predominantly good. There are a few a**holes everywhere unfortunately that try to spoil it for everyone. Remember that the Webster definition of a terrorist is “someone who uses violent acts to frighten the people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal”.

Well if we change our plans because we are afraid of what might happen, then the terrorists have already won.

The Thai are a wonderfully hospitable people of whom many frankly count on tourism for their livelihoods. We look forward to many interesting and exciting adventures (and some awesome food) in the months to come. We will update this blog as often as is reasonable and possible. Let us know what you think.
