Ode to Rocks

I used to think that rocks….well actually I never thought about rocks at all. Not until this past trip to San Diego. We drove through hundreds of miles of countryside littered with rocks….big, little, gargantuan, red, white, black, brown, crumbling, tumbly, and stuck in place. I had no idea that rocks came in so many sizes and colors and compositions and stages of decay and growth. They ranged from the majestic red rocks with arches and peepholes and stately ridges to piles that looked like something rejected from a building site. Every turn in the road illicited sighs of awe or cries of incredulousness. It took us forever to drive any road because we stopped constantly at scenic overlooks.

Rocks are so cool – spoken by someone who taught geology. Be careful about what’s sunning itself on the rocks. some of those things bite.
