Montmartre is the artist district of Paris. I was really hoping to see all the painters in the Plaza and get a caricature done but it poured all day when we were there so that didn’t happen. This was really the only day that it rained hard enough to curtail our plans.

The Basilique du Sacre Coeur sits atop one of the highest hills in Paris. the view from there was great (tho not as great as from the Eiffel Tower!) Sacre Coeur is very much like he Cathedral of Notre Dame of Bayeux though not as well preserved or restored. The building started in 1875 and the church was consecrated in 1919.

The bridge near Notre Dame in Paris, where all the locks used to be, had several of the bridge railings collapse from the weight of all the locks. So now, it happens in Montmartre surrounding the Sacre Coeur.

There are several ways to get up and down from Sacre Coeur: a cute little “kiddie” train, a funicular, or a million stairs! We had our Uber driver take us to the top and we walked down.

Montmartre had lots of cute souvenir shops which have been hard to find in other parts of Paris. We walked around for a bit, had a very French lunch (duck confit and pate).

Found a wonderful chocolate shop that had replicas of Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe made entirely from chocolate.

What can I say about Moulin Rogue: it is Paris, it is elaborate, the costumes were gorgeous, the sets were complex.

No photos were allowed once the show started so the pictures of the show were taken from the program. The Moulin Rogue opened in 1889. There were over 60 people on stage!! The female dancers are topless much of the time (though only select dancers, not all) but yet the men remained fully clothed at all times! There were mostly song and dance numbers but they also had acrobats, knife throwers, and trick roller skaters. Overall an enjoyable time and a once in a lifetime experience.
