Research, research research. Can we really sell our house, store all our belongings and travel for an extended period of time? Can we handle being “homeless”? Can we afford it? Will our friends and families think we are nuts? Well, we answered all the questions with a resounding YES! (And our friends and families already think we are nuts so no change there!) We read many blogs of people who have done just what we were thinking of doing and they all warned us that people will try to talk us out of it. Guess what? 99.99% of the reactions we got were positive and envious!
So here is a list of things we have done in the past 6 months:
Put home on market, check!
Retire, check!
Decide what to move and what to off load, check!
Sell house, check!
Pack up all our belongings, almost check!
Freak out, check!
We are actually going to do it! We will be leaving the East Coast, where we have lived for the majority of our lives (except for a brief stint in Georgia, Ohio and West Virginia), and move out west to be closer to our kids. But before we settle down, we are going to scratch that travel itch.
So grab a glass of wine, settle in and come along on our journey….the first part of the journey will not start until May 25..so make it a big glass of wine while you wait!
Arcady Wood Lodge is ready and waiting. I did consult with John Hargleroad about the wisdom of allowing HOMELESS PERSONS into your house. After all, they might be immigrants (rapists and murders) or indigent bums. He assured me that after a few root beers it wouldn’t matter!
