Day at Sea

Our one and only day at sea: they really have a lot going on. We played Bingo. $30 for 6 cards and then they divided the cash throughout the games, the first game paid about $240 and the last game paid over $400!!! Of course, none of us won but the cards were cool and so was the verification system.

You pushed down the tab when your number is called. They verify a Bingo by using the 4 digit number in the corner of each card. No sitting there while someone calls out all their numbers. It is genius!

They had a craft session: making a beaded bracelet and the other day they gave out needlepoint kits. I worked on my Art Scavenger Hunt. The art is all over the ship and there are 46 pictures of little snippets of the art and you have to find the piece. I worked on that for a couple of hours and managed to get a little over half. Not sure if I will have the time to finish it or not. 

We were invited to eat dinner with the Food and Beverage Manager and the Marketing Manager in the Grand Dining Room. We have no idea how or why we were invited but decided to go. There was one other couple with us and it was delightful. Turns out the other couple were raised in Lancaster County and were both Penn Staters, as was their son!!! Small world! We had bottles of special wine that are usually not available with our drink package and lovely conversation. Then we headed to the theater for a Yacht Rock program by the Production Company. The entertainment has really been quite good: A guy who did a Queen Tribute and a Legends of Rock show was really good. There is a violin/cello duo that plays every evening aman playing the piano in the Martini bar.  We saw a couple of show by a magician/comedian and he was great. I don’t usually like either of those things but this guy was very entertaining. He also gave a workshop today and taught us how to do several card tricks. There have also been lectures on some of our destinations and a geology workshop. I feel that the entertainment, etc has been much better quality than the Norwegian Cruise I took.

The ship is about 95% full so close to 600 people with 400 staff! The staff has been really wonderful: from Housekeeping to the sommelier, they remember you name and some of your preferences for drinks, etc. It is pretty amazing.
